|What is Automated Micro-Needling?|
Automated micro-needling (also known as collagen induction therapy or CIT) is a new procedure that can help treat the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the skin’s overall appearance. The Eclipse MicroPen™ is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels which can be used with topical gels, creams and serums to help improve the appearance of the skin. Eclipse MicroPen™ is the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market.
What are the Benefits?
The benefits of micro-needling can include the a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and more youthful skin with fewer signs of aging. Eclipse MicroPen™ can also improve the appearance of hyper-pigmentation and hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks and create a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.
This procedure can be combined with topical treatments suchs as PRP, Growth Factor Serum and Stem Cell Cytokines to produce dramatic results.
What areas of the body can I treat?
Eclipse MicroPen™ can be used on any part of the body that has scaring or skin damage. However, it is most freuqently used on the face and neck.
How is the procedure done?
A sterile cartridge tip containing 12 points is attached to the Eclipse MicroPen™. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin and select the appropriate pen setting based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
What does it Feel Like?
The feeling associated with the Eclipse MicroPen™ is similar to deep micro-dermabrasion. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating MicroPen™ tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating hylauranonic acid gel that makes the treatment more tolerable. Patients have a numbing cream applied 30 minutes prior to the procedure to reduce discomfort.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin.
On average, patients may have redness up to 2 to 4 days but typically don’t have much redness past the first day. Some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. When will I see the results?
Patients will notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Slight visible changes to the skin develop over the next several days and weeks.
How many treatments will I need?
The best results are achieved with multiple treatments so packages of 3 or 6 treatments are available. This procedure can be performed as often as every 4-6 weeks for patients with significant skin damage, deep wrinkles, stretch marks and scaring.
