Clostridium botulinum is a toxin more commonly known as Botox. There are a few other brand names for this toxin, but Botox is the most widely used. Botulinum toxin works by preventing muscle contraction in the muscles it is injected into. This results in smoother skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
It is most commonly injected into the forehead, the frown lines between the eyes (the glabella) and the crow’s feet on the sides of the eyes. There are more advanced injection areas but you will need to discuss that with Dr. Senger at the time of consultation.
LIV RENEW offers all 3 types of botulinum toxin currently on the market. They are Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. All 3 types of botox work the same way and typically last 3-4 months. They may even last as long as 6 months in certain patients. Each type of botox has slight differences and will work differently depending on your individual response.
|XEOMIN – This Botulinum product is relatively new to the game and has only been around a couple years. It is different from Botox and Dysport in that it is a purified protein and does not contain the accessory proteins that botox and dysport do. This means that it could potentially last longer in someone that is not having reliable results with Botox or Dysport due to antibody activity against those products with prolonged use. Otherwise, the onset of action and duration of effectiveness is similar to Botox.|
